Our Metallic Epoxy Flooring Process
Site Reconnaissance
We assess the concrete substrate, identify moisture levels, existing coatings, and structural conditions. Metallic epoxy requires an exceptionally clean, sound substrate — any contamination will telegraph through the translucent metallic body coat.
Surface Preparation
Mechanical diamond grinding removes contaminants, opens the concrete pores, and repairs cracks and spalling. The substrate must be profiled to a CSP 2–3 standard for proper adhesion of the metallic body coat.
Primer Application
A penetrating 100% solids epoxy primer is applied to seal the substrate, outgas air, and create a chemical bond between the concrete and the metallic body coat. The primer also provides a uniform base color that enhances pigment depth.
Metallic Body Coat
100% solids epoxy resin is mixed with dry metallic pigment powders (mica-based compounds coated with titanium dioxide, iron oxide, bronze, copper, or silver) and poured onto the floor. Our installers hand-manipulate the wet resin using rollers, squeegees, brushes, and solvent spritzing to create flowing, dimensional patterns with genuine 3D depth.
Clear Topcoat & Inspection
After the metallic body coat cures, a UV-stable polyaspartic clear topcoat is applied to lock in the dimensional effect, add scratch and chemical resistance, and produce the final depth of gloss. The floor is inspected under direct and raking light before release.
